Will of Joseph Smith dec'd

In the name of God aman I Joseph Smith of Dunkard Township County of Greene and State of Pennsylvania being throu the goodness and Marcy of God do weak in body yet of a sound and parfect understanding and mammory blased be god for the same but calling to mind the mortality of my body and that it appointed for man to die I do mak and appoint this my last will and testament that is to say principlay and first of all I comment my soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a plain pappel or oak bord cofen with a flat cover a shirt an my body a napkin an my head and wrapped in a sheat and lead in the cofen as to my worldly estate as it pleased God to bless me with, I will that all my just debts and funeral expenses by dully paid as soon as can be after my disolution sacondly I give my loving wife Elisabeth my House and Land where I now dwell for the term of her life. I give her all the best of my goods & chattels and all in the House or as the Land or in whose hands costody possession or keeping soever the same an are can be found to have forever.

thirdly also I do give and devise unto my said wife her heirs and assigns forever the House and lot that is now building over the run near the cherrie tree that is the corner below Jasa Stele House being part of my Land that she may habit or rent it as she pleas.

Fourthly I will that if she see good to have any parson or familie to be with her to tak car of her to the end of her life she shal have the power to grant the parson or familie the us of the House and Land for two years rent free provided the place is kaept in as good order to the end of the two years as it was at the Begining of the two yearsand no tember to be wasted nor any manur to be [illegible] of the land. fiotty aftar the two years I will that the place shal be rented at a low rent and half rent to be pat in repar until it can be sold for the full valueas sun as ma be. fioflly I will that lot Phillips shal have the us of the House and Lot near the cherrie tree cornar rent free until she my wife seas good to saled sixtly I will that after her disolution and the land sold the remainder of the rents if any shal be over it shal be addit to the money the land is sold my Executors herefater named shal give the money to the Annual Conference of the Protestant Methodist Church of Pittsburg and I will the conferenc shal but the mony in interest forever & Shal apply the interest for the support of the [supernumry?] and warnant preachers widows and orphans belonging to a above named confrenc and I do apint Thomas Mapel and Robert Boulby my executors of this my last will and testament. In Witness whereof I set my hand and seal this fourt day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven

Before me Abijah N. Johnston, Register for the Probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for the said County personally appeared this day Benjamin Campbell, John Fordyce & Abner Fordyce and being duly sworn did say that the are well acquainted with the hand writing of Joseph Smith the Testator within named and that they verily believe the signature therein is the own proper hand writing of the said Testator.
