Will of Jacob Fordyce

The last Will and testament of Jacob Foredyce of Centre township in the County of Greene and the State of Pennsylvania.

I, Jacob Fordyce of the County and State aforesaid, being in good health of body and of sound and disposing mind and memory, and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs, while I have strength and capacity so to do, do make and publish this my last Will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former will by me at any time heretofore made, and first and principally I commit my soul into the hands of my Creator who gave it and my body to the Earth, to be interred at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named, and as such worldly Estate where with it hath pleased God to intrust me, I dispose of the same as follows that is to say, First I do give and bequeath to my son Jacob Foredyce Jr. all my home farm situated in Centre township aforesaid, adjoining lands of Meeker Denny, Joseph Silveus Solomon Foredyce, Jesse Orndoff and others; provided that my daughter Mary shall have her support and necessary living out of the proceeds or profits of the said farm, for and during her natural life, and that all the residue of my property and Estate both personal and real I do give and bequeath to all my children now living to be equally divided among them share and share alike , And I do hereby appoint and constitute my son John W. Foredyce and John A. Foredyce (my Grand-son) to be Executors of this my last Will and testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the second day of September, in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and fifty eight.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named Jacob Foredyce to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the testator.

Before me Justus F. Temple Register for the Probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for said County personally came Jesse Orndurf and Joseph Silveus the two subscribing witnesses to the within and foregoing instrument of writing, the former being sworn and the latter affirmed according to law, do depose and say that they were present and saw & heard Jacob Foredyce the within named testator, sign, seal, publish, pronounce & declare the foregoing instrument of writing to be his last Will and testament; that at the time of doing thereof said Testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory & discretion to the best of their knowledge observation and belief and that they signed the same as subscribing witnesses at the Testator's request and in his presence and in the presence of each other.
