Charles Zimmerman

Charles Zimmerman, 82, of 243 South Morgan Street, Waynesburg, died Monday, July 28, 1969, in Greene County Memorial Hospital. He had not been in the best of health for some time.

He was born April 2, 1887, in Wayne Township, near Spraggs, the son of Henry and Caroline Headley Zimmerman.

Mr. Zimmerman spent the early part of his life in the Spraggs area, and the last several years in Waynesburg, where he was a member of the Washington Street United Methodist Church, and the Men's Bible Class of the church.

He was a veteran of World War One, in which he served with the U. S. Army in France, and also belonged to James Farrell Post 330 of the American Legion.

He was a retired employee of the Peoples Gas COmpany, Waynesburg.

Mr. Zimmerman's first wife, Jessie Brock Zimmerman, died January 12, 1916.

Surviving are one daughter by his first marriage, Mrs. Marshall (Velma) Simmons, of Spraggs, R. D. 1; his second wife, Helen Berkheimer Zimmerman; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Knight, of Waynesburg; one son, Stanford B. Zimmerman, of Waynesburg; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Ocie Yeager, of Cassville, W. Va., and several nieces and nephews.

One grandson, six brothers and seven sisters are deceased.

Funeral services were held Thursday with burial in Greene County Memorial Park.
