Robert Gail Wood Sr.

Driver examiner was Korean War veteran

Robert Gail "Scopy" Wood Sr., 68, of 4241/2 North Richhill Street, Waynesburg, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 1999, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg.

He was born February 11, 1931, in Brave, a son of Gail and Pauline O. Eddy Wood.

Mr. Wood lived his entire life in Greene County, where he was a member of Oakview United Methodist Church.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict and was retired from the Army National Guard.

For 27 years, he worked as a driver examiner for the Pennsylvania State Police.

Mr. Wood was a member of Waynesburg Masonic Lodge 153 F&AM, Waynesburg Eagles 598, Loyal Order of Moose 461, James Farrell American Legion Post 330 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793, all of Waynesburg.

He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

Surviving are a daughter, Autumn J. Laskody of Waynesburg R.D.4; a son, Robert Gail Wood Jr. of Waynesburg R.D.4; three grandchildren, Elaine and Meghan Wood and Carly Stewart; two sisters, Louise Maize of Dover, Ohio, and Agnes Moson of Hinckley, Ohio; his former wives, Elaine Wood and Frances G. Wood, both of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two sisters, Dorothy Love and Eleanor Bernhart; and a brother, Maynard C. Wood.


WOOD - Friends of Robert Gail "Scopy" Wood Sr. of 4241/2 North Richhill Street, Waynesburg, who died Wednesday, November 24, 1999, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 27, with the Rev. Robert Bedison officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township. Graveside military rites will be accorded by VFW Post 4793, James Farrell American Legion Post 330 and Disabled American Veterans 123, all of Waynesburg. Waynesburg Masonic Lodge 153 F&AM will hold services at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
