J. Perry Watson

J. Perry Watson, aged 58 years, well known mail carrier, died Tuesday evening, August 7, 1928, at his home in West Franklin street following an illness due to rheumatism and anemia. Mr. Watson was born May 30, 1870, near Rogersville, a son of George and Elizabeth Watson, and was a lifelong resident of Greene county. He was twice married. His first wife was Lucy Stiles, and to this union one son, James Watson, was born. He also leaves his second wife, Emma Phillips Watson, and seven children by this union, namely: Helen, Mary, Anna, Alice, Perry, Jr., and George. One sister, Mrs. R. G. Potter, of Seffner, Fla., also survives. Mr. Watson was a member of the Baptist church and of the I. O. O. F. lodge at Jollytown. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon. Services were held at the Watson home at 12:30 o'clock, followed by further services in the Baptist church in New Freeport. The services were in charge of Rev. Paul Brown. Interment was in the New Freeport cemetery.
