ORME J. SOUTH

Orme J. South, 76, of 271 East Greene street, Waynesburg, died at 1:45 p.m. Friday, January 17, 1964, in the Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg. He had not been in the best of health for some time, and seriously ill for three weeks.

Mr. South was born September 22, 1887, in Greene Township, a son of Benjamin L. and Mary Jane Williamson South.

He was married twice. His first wife, Patsy Brooks South, deid in 1925. His second wife, Lyda Morris South, whom he married in 1933, survives.

For several years he resided in Pittsbugh and for ten years at Greensboro prior to moving to Waynesburg five years ago.

He was a member of the Washington Street Methodist Church at Waynesburg, and a 50-year member of Monongahela Lodge 269, F. and A. M., Pittsburgh.

Mr. South attended Greene County schools and graduated from Iron City College of Business, Pittsburgh. He had been employed as an auditor and credit manager of the Frick and Lindsay Hardward Jobbers company, of Pittsburgh, as an auditor for the Service Construction company, of Pittsburgh, New York, and Chicago, and secretary of the Dunkard Valley Joint Municipal Water Authority serving Greensboro and Monongahela Township during 1952.

Surviving, in addition to his second wife, are a daughter by his first marriage, Mary Jane, wife of James Romey, of Richmond, Va.; three grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was the last of his family. Four sisters and five brothers are deceased.
