SARAH AGNES SMITH

Sarah Agnes Smith, 85, of Waynesburg, R. D. 5, Center Township, died in her home at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 1949, of complications due to her advanced age. She had been ill for four years and bedfast for the past four weeks.

A daughter of the late Jesse and Susan Weir Orndoff, she was born Dec. 27, 1863, in Center Township, where she resided all her life. In 1880 she married Corbly Vincent Smith, who was taken by death on Dec. 12, 1909. She was a member of the Rogersville Methodist Church and the last surviving member of her family.

Surviving are two sons, J. Cord Smith at home and the Rev. Charles M. Smith of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Mr. T. M. Longstreth of Rogersville and Mrs. W. B. Phillips of Holbrook R. D. 1; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. One son, John L. Smith, is deceased.


SMITH - Funeral service for Sarah Agnes Smith of Waynesburg, R. D. 5, who died Friday, Sept. 23, 1949, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, from the Weaver Funeral Home, 182 West High street, Waynesburg, with the Rev. Kenneth K. Coggon officiating. Burial in Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville. Friends received in the funeral home after 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24

MRS. SARAH AGNES SMITH

Mrs. Sarah Agnes Smith, 85, died Friday, Sept. 23, 1949, at 3:30 a.m. at her home, Waynesburg, R. D. 5, in Center Township. She had bee in ill health for four years and seriously ill four weeks.

Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 27, 1863, in Center Township, and was a daughter of Jesse Orndoff and Susan Weir Orndoff. She was married in 1880 to Corbly Vincent Smith, who died Dec. 12, 1909. She lived all her life in Center Township, and was a member of the Rogersville Methodist Church.

She was a descendant of a pioneer Greene County family, her father coming from Germany to settle here. She was the last member of her family.

Surviving are four children, Mrs. T. M. Longstreth, of Rogersville, Mrs. W. D. Phillips, Holbrook, R. D. 1; J. Cord Smith, at home, and Rev. Charles M. Smith, of Pittsburgh; 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

One son, John L. Smith, is deceased.
