William C. Shade A retired Standard Oil Co. employee, William C. Shade, 73, 1442 Brown Ave., Whiting, died Saturday in St. Anthony hospital at Michigan City following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Schlater funeral home, 1620 Indianapolis Blvd., Whiting. Rev. Hilton Whitaker will officiate. Burial will be at Ridgelawn Cemetry, Gary. Shade was a member of Lodge 696 of the IOOF in Whiting, the Sons and Daughters of Liberty and the Standard Oil Annuitants club. Surviving are the widow, Edith; a son, Edward; a sister, Mrs. Erma Overstreet of Colorado Springs, Colo., and two grandchildren. Hammond Times, August 13, 1951 (Hammond, IN)
