John K. Pyles

John K. Pyles, Sr., 74, of Waynesburg R. D. 1, near Lippencott, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 1969, in Greene County Memorial Hospital. He had not been in the best of health for the past several months.

Mr. Pyles was born November 7, 1894, in Whiteley Township, near Kirby, a son of Warren and Amanda Troy Pyles.

The early part of his life was spent in Whiteley Township and the last several years in the Lippencott vicinity.

Mr. Pyles was affiliated with the Methodist Church and was a retired farmer. He had also worked with the Pennsylvania State Highways Department.

His wife, Mary Fordyce Pyles, whom he married February 15, 1917, survives as do seven daughters: Mrs. Henry (Pearl) Patterson, Mrs. Raymond (Emma) Smith and Mrs. Thomas (Ethel) Holmes, all of Washington; Mrs. John (Nellie) Krupzig, of Marianna, R. D. 1; Mrs. George (Lucy) Popp, of Columbus, Ohio; Mildred Pyles, at home, and Mrs. Kenneth (Jean) Turner, of Prosperity, R. D. 2; and two sons; Harry W. Pyles, of Clarksville, R. D. 1, and John K. Pyles, Jr., of Marianna.

Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Nanny Snider, of Jefferson.

Three sisters and four brothers are deceased.

Funeral services were held Saturday with burial in Greene County Memorial Park.
