Lloyd M. Morris

Col. Lloyd M. Morris, 94, of 213 Logan Boulevard, Altoona, died at 11:18 p.m., Monday, September 24, 1990, in Mercy Hospital, Altoona.

Born December 4, 1895, in Holbrook, Greene County, he was a son of Samuel R. and Violet M. Morris.

He was a 1915 graduate of Center Township High School, Rogersville. He was also a graduate of Penn State University. Morris was a veteran of World Wars I and II, serving with the U.S. Army Reserve.

He was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad in Altoona, retiring in 1960, and by Penn State University as director of the evening class center at the Altoona campus until 1940.

Morris was a member of the Ward Avenue United Presbyterian Church in Altoona and the Altoona Kiwanis Club.

He received the U.S. Department of Defense Distinguished Service Citation for civil defense in 1975; and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Certificate of Appreciation for community service in 1981.

On March 24, 1948, he married Sara Martha Delo, who died May 10, 1983. His first wife, Helen M. Wood, died in 1943. Also deceased is a sister, Laura Gilbert, who died in 1989.

Surviving are three nieces.
