Dr. Lorenzo Milliken

Dr. Lorenzo Milliken, 87, Greene County native who became a distinguished Philadelphia physician and teacher, died Monday, February 3, 1964, in Philadelphia.

Dr. Milliken who specialized in urology, also taught that subject at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School.

Dr. Milliken was born and reared in the Delphene section of Greene County and attended the elementary schools in that area. He was born December 25, 1877, a son of Samuel and Mary Ellen Smith Milliken.

He graduated in Waynesburg College in 1899, and from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, in 1905. As a youth he served in the Spanish American War, completing his education after that service.

In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Milliken held the degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Science from the University of Pennsylvania, completing the requirements for them in 1923 and 1924.

He was a member of the County, State and American Medical Associations, the Philadelphia Urological Society and the American Urological Society.

He was a member of the IOOF, the Knights of Pythias and the Grange.

He was married to Margaret Willison, also a native Greene Countian, on September 11, 1901.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs.Virginia Linn, of California, and two sons, Keither, in California, and Herbert, of Philadelphia, and one sister, Mrs. W. V. Hoskinson, of Miami, Fla., but who lived in Waynesburg until a few months ago.
