Bryan McNeely Obituary
1896

Little Bryan, the son of David and Mary McNeely, was born July 1, '96, and died very suddenly Sept. 26, 1896. They had left their home near New Freeport and came down to her mother's, Mrs. Catharine Crouse's, Rogersville, on Sept. 27 [sic], the child appearing to be all right, and on the following morning the child was taken up and cared for in the usual manner and laid down to sleep and in a few minutes it was noticed he had stopped breathing and upon examination was found to be dead. The body was interred in the family graveyard o the Crouse farm. Funeral services were conducted by the writer. Although they're sorry they can no longer behold their darling boy's face, yet they know assuredly that he now dwells where he shall evermore be at rest and be free from pain and death.

The little crib is empty now,
    The little clothes laid by.
The mother's hope, the father's joy,
In death's cold arms doth lie,
Go little pilgrim to thy home,
    On yonder blissful shore,
We miss thee now but soon will come,
    Where partings are no more.

A. F. FURGUSON.

Waynesburg Republican, October 8, 1896 (Greene County, PA)
