Martha Lemley Kennedy Obituary
1928

Mrs. Martha Kennedy

Suffering a heart attack while milking last Sunday morning, July 29, 1928, Mrs. Martha Lemley Kennedy, aged about 69 years, widow of Johnathan Kennedy and a lifelong resident of the Mt. Morris district, died suddenly at the home of her brother, David Lemley, of Mt. Morris, where she had been visiting. Mrs. Kennedy was apparently in her usual health and had gone out to help with the morning's milking. While engaged in milking a cow she was stricken and died almost instantly. Mrs. Kennedy was a daughter of Asbury and Rachel Headlee Lemley, deceased. Her husband died 12 years ago. Besides one son, Frank Kennedy, of Mt. Morris, and five grandchildren, she leaves the following brothers and sisters: David, John and Lewis Lemley, Mrs. Rhuanna Howard and Mrs. Lyda Stewart, all of the Mt. Morris district. The funeral was held Monday afternoon. Relatives and friends met at the home of David Lemley at 2 o'clock after which the remains were taken to the Mt. Morris Methodist Protestant church, of which she was a member, and further services were conducted there by Rev. C. C. Jarvis and Rev. T. A. McMellon. Interment was in Cedar Grove cemetery.
