Worked for U.S. government in 1950s

Susannah C. Keener, 68, of Thompson Gardens, Waynesburg, formerly of Brave, died at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 1997, at her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born May 4, 1929, in Brave, a daughter of Merrill Headly and Belle Huffman Keener.

Miss Keener was a member of Kents Chapel United Methodist Church in Brave.

She was a 1947 graduate of Waynesburg High School.

After graduating from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., she worked for a brief period during the early 1950's for the Interior and Navy Departments in Washington, D.C., before returning to Greene County.

Surviving are one sister, Alice K. Wallmark of Huntingtown, Md.; four brothers, Joseph M. Keener of Dryden, N.Y., Richard B. Keener of Westfield, Edison W. Keener of Upper St. Clair and Robert M. Keener of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are one sister, Lou Ella; one half sister, Helen K. Lemley; and one half brother, Merrill Keener.


KEENER - Friends of Susannah C. Keener, of Thompson Gardens, Waynesburg, formerly of Brave, who died Thursday, September, 25, 1997, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 28, with the Rev. Warren Jones officiating. Burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
