Mrs. Rachel Henderson Headlee, 83, of 170 East Greene Street, Waynesburg, died after a long illness at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 1978, in Greene County Memorial Hospital.

A daughter of the late Jacob and Elizabeth Jane Taylor Cole, she was born September 4, 1894 in Wayne Township, near Kuhntown, but had resided virtually all her life in the Waynesburg area.

Mrs. Headlee was a member of the Washington Street United Methodist Church and of Lady Greene Rebekah Lodge 385, Waynesburg.

She was a beautician for a number of years, having owned and operated the Henderson Beauty Shop in the former Long Building.

Her first husband, Thomas H. Henderson, died August 28, 1948.

Surviving by this marriage are two daughters, Mrs. Elaine H. Howard of Glen Burnie, Md., and Mrs. William (Edith) Boone of Waynesburg, R.D. 3; a son, Ralph C. Henderson of Waynesburg; three granddaughters, Donna, Carolyn and Barbara; three grandsons, David, Thomas and Robert; two great-grandsons, Grant and John.

A son died in infancy and a foster son, Kenneth Cole, was killed in World War II while serving with the Army in the Battle of the Bulge in Europe.

Her second husband, Floyd W. Headlee, died August 26, 1968.

Surviving by this marriage are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Homer (Evelyn) Fox of Mt. Morris, R.D. 1 and Mrs. Francis (Ruth) Patterson of Laurel, Md., and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. A stepson, William Headlee, is deceased.

Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Frank (Ocie) Kiger of Spraggs, R.D. 1 and several nieces and nephews.

Three sisters and four brothers are deceased.
