Mrs. Mary D. Headlee

Mrs. Mary Jane Delaney Headlee, aged 74, wife of Joseph K. Headlee, of Mt. Morris, R. D., and one of Perry township's best known women, died at her home Tuesday night, February 21, at 11:40 o'clock. Her death was due to paralysis. About a year ago she suffered her first stroke which partially paralyzed her and rendered her speechless and last Monday evening the third attack came. Her husband is also critically ill of dropsy. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Delaney and had spent all her life in Perry township. She came of a large family of children and the family circle was unbroken by death until two years ago. Mrs. Headlee's death makes the third in the family since that time. Mrs. Headlee was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, having held membership since her girlhood and was a loyal church and Sunday school worker while her health permitted. She was also a member of the W. C. T. U. Besides her husband she leaves eight children, namely: Mrs. R. M. Keener, of Brave; Mrs. Lozella Blacker, of Amity; P. L. Headlee, of Waynesburg; Mrs. A. J. Whitehill, of Brave; Mrs. George Eddy, of Morgantown, W. Va.; Mrs. Ross Headlee, of Mt. Morris; Mrs. Charles Minor, of Mt. Morris R. D., and Miss Lulu Headlee, at home. She is also survived by two brothers , A. L. Delaney, of Mt. Morris, R. D., and Eli Delaney, of St. Leo, W. Va. The funeral will be held this morning, relatives and friends meeting at the home at 10 o'clock and then going to the Baptist at Mt. Morris, where services will be held. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove cemetery at Mt. Morris.
