Edward A. Hartley, 86, of Mt. Morris R.D.1, died Wednesday, September 15, 1999, in his home, on his 65th wedding anniversary, following a lengthy illness.

He was born March 11, 1913, in Mt. Morris, a son of John Leslie and Rebecca Lemley Hartley.

Mr. Hartley lived his entire life in Perry Township, Greene County, in the same house he died in.

He was affiliated with Shannon Run Methodist Church.

During his early life, he drove a school bus in Perry Township. He later worked for several years at Hope Gas Co. in Morgantown, W.Va.; he then worked in a steel mill in Niles, Ohio, for 20 years; and he worked as a cutter for eight years at Accurate Brass in Brave, where he retired.

On September 15, 1934, he married Thelma Fox, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Carl and Harold Hartley, both of Mt. Morris, and John Hartley of Ruff Creek; seven grandchildren, Randy, Jimmy, Roger, James Michael, Rodney, Janelle and Jocelyn Hartley; and four great-grandchildren.

Deceased are a daughter, Shirley Hartley; and a sister, Mary Walters.


HARTLEY - Friends of Edward A. Hartley of Mt. Morris R.D.1, who died Wednesday, September 15, 1999, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., corner of Ellsworth Avenue and Route 19, Mt. Morris, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 18, with the Rev. Fred Tomlinson officiating. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris.
