Claude A. Fordyce

Claude A. Fordyce, 84, of Masontown, died Friday, September 18, 1998, in Fayette Health Care Center, Uniontown.

He was born April 12, 1914, in Grinage Run, Greene County, a son of Garfield and Alice Haines Fordyce.

He attended Masontown Mennonite Church and was a member of United Mine Workers of America District 4, Robena Local 6321.

Surviving are 11 children, Carol Wickhurst of Cleveland, Ohio, Patti Opel of McClellandtown, Brenda Lawson of Cleveland, Aleta Lawson of Smithfield, Paul Fordyce of Footdale, Blaine Fordyce of Point Marion, Nevin Fordyce of Masontown, Gary Fordyce of Brooklyn, Ohio, Barbara Chervenak of Elk Ridge, Md., Roma Perrine of New Salem and Louis Fordyce of Grindstone; 37 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are his first wife, Alice Coffman Fordyce; his second wife, Charlotte Friend Fordyce; four sons; and seven brothers and sisters.


FORDYCE - Friends of Claude A. Fordyce of Masontown, who died Friday, September 18, 1998, will be received in the H. David McElroy Funeral Home, McClellandtown, from 2 to 9 p.m Sunday and until 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, the hour of service, with the Rev. Henry Breakiron and Pastor David Crable co-officiating. Interment in Jacob's Luthern Cemetery, Masontown.
