CHARLES M. EVANS

Charles Minor Evans, 65, veteran Carmichaels barber and husband of Belle Fordyce Evans, died in the Uniontown General Hospital at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 1947, after a lingering illness.

He was born April 4, 1882, at Carmichaels, a son of the late Benjamin and Sarah Clawson Evans, and practiced the barber trade for 50 years. He spent all his life in the Carmichaels community with the exception of seven years at Donora.

Surviving besides his wife is a son, Brice Evans, of Beaver, and one granddaughter.

He was a member of the Carmichaels Presbyterian Church and of the Masonic Lodge at Donora.


EVANS - Funeral services for Charles Evans, husband of Belle Fordyce Evans, of Carmichaels, who died in the Uniontown General Hospital Monday, Sept. 15, 1947, will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, at 2:30 p.m. (DST), at the Condit Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Kenneth Coggon. Burial will be in the Laurel Point Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Condit Funeral Home at any time.

Charles M. Evans Dies At Age of 65

CARMICHAELS, Sept. 15. - Charles Minor Evans, 65, retired barber of Carmichaels, died at 1:30 p.m. today in the Uniontown Hospital.

Mr. Evans, a son of the late Benjamin Bryce Evans and Sarah Clawson Evans, was born April 4, 1882. He spent his entire life in Carmichaels except for seven years at Donora. For 50 years he worked as a barber.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carmichaels, and for 27 years was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 626, at Donora. He was active in all community affairs.
