M. Russell Cowell

Waynesburg - M. Russell Cowell, 42, of 54 S. East St., Waynesburg, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 1985, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, where he had been a patient for two weeks after being injured in a fall.

Born Nov. 18, 1942 in Waynesburg, he was the son of the late Donald B. and Kathryn Russell Cowell.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesburg and served on the board of trustees there. He graduated from Waynesburg High School and the Morgantown Business College. On June 4, 1976, he married Judith Rollins Cowell, who survives. He was a building contractor and co-owner of Cowell Enterprises in Waynesburg which he operated with his brother, Keith Cowell. Previously he worked for 15 years in Washington D. C. for several government agencies including the Appalachian Regional Commission. He was also a member of the Waynesburg Lions Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Stephanie, Wade, Kendall and Chad Cowell, all at home; one sister, Mrs. Donald (Joanna) Throckmorton of Waynesburg; seven brothers, James A., Robert D., Donald R. and Keith Cowell, all of Waynesburg, Charles E. Cowell of Bay Village, Ohio, Gary R. Cowell of Marietta, Ohio, and Ronald C. Cowell of Springfield, Va.

He was preceded in death by one brother who died in infancy.
