Wilbur E. Christopher

Wilbur E. Christopher, 74, of Rices Landing R. D. 1, died at 2:40 a.m. Monday, July 9, 1990, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va.

He was born March 21, 1916, in Rices Landing, a son of Earl and Leona Gass Christopher.

Mr. Christopher lived his entire life in Greene County and was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church.

He was a retired coal minor and worked at Vesta 5 and Crucible mines. Mr. Christopher also was a welder for Hillman Barge Co., of Brownsville.

He was a member of United Mine Workers, Dilworth Local 1980, and Jefferson and Carmichaels senior citizen centers.

Surviving are his wife, Arveda Davis Christopher, whom he married April 6, 1947; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Judy) Kolat of Rices Landing; two sons, Edwin Christopher of Rices Landing and Allen Christopher of Carmichaels; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Christopher, William Earl Christopher, Tracy Kolat, Kim Kolat, Cary Kolat, John Allen Christopher and Adam Christopher; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Donald Christopher and James Milford Christopher, both of Washington; and three sisters, Erma Miley of Sebring, Fla., Arlene Harry of Pleasant Hills and Hazel Buckingham of Rices Landing.

Deceased are a sister, Ina Baily, and two brothers, Duane and Edmond Christopher.
