William Bissett Jr.
Past post commander of Taylorstown legion.

William Bissett Jr., 74, of Claysville R. D. 1, formerly of New Freeport, died Tuesday, June 30, 1992, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington, after an extended illness.

He was born June 27, 1918, in Cameron, W. Va., a son of William and Ethel Williams Bissett.

He was a Protestant.

Mr. Bissett resided in New Freeport for several years before moving to the Taylorstown area in 1951.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Taylorstown American Legion Post 907 where he had served as post commander for two terms.

Mr. Bissett was employed in construction his entire life and was last employed as a construction superintendent by Black Top Paving Co. for about 20 years before retiring in 1979 due to disability.

On January 12, 1939, he married Gwendolyn Kinney, who died October 26, 1976.

Surviving are two daughters, Bylle Culbertson of Claysville R. D. 1, with whom he made his home, and Susanna Armstrong of West Alexander R. D. 1 (Beham); a brother, Clifford Bissett of Graysville; a sister, Helen Huffman of North Huntingdon; a stepsister, Mrs. John (Carolyn) Evanseky of Fostoria, Ohio; and a granddaughter, Lisa Culbertson.

Deceased is a sister, who died in infancy.
