Paul R. Bernhart Sr.
Owned Eleanor Style Shop in Waynesburg

Paul R. Bernhart Sr., 88, of Washington, formerly of Waynesburg, died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, April 4, 2004, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born March 15, 1916, in Pittsburgh.

Mr. Bernhart was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesburg.

He was a Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and was a member of an American Legion post in Washington.

Mr. Berhart was a member of Waynesburg Masonic Lodge 153 F&AM and Syria Temple.

He worked for Michael Baker Engineering for several years. For 38 years, he and his wife owned and operated Eleanor Style Shop in Waynesburg and retired in 1986 from Thom McCann shoe store in Waynesburg.

Mr. Bernhart enjoyed playing golf and attending his grandchildren's activities.

On May 2, 1953, he married Eleanor Wood, who died September 3, 1997.

Surviving are three sons, Dick Bernhart of Morgantown, W. Va., Tim Bernhart of Washington and Nelson Phillips of Carlsbad, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was the last of his immediate family.

Deceased are a brother, Tim Bernmart; and two sisters, Kate Weppler and Maggie Stearns.

BERNHART - Friends of Paul R. Bernhart Sr., of Washington, formerly of Waynesburg, who died Sunday, April 4, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 8, with the Rev. Neil Hoppe officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville. Graveside military rites will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793, James Farrell American Legion Post 330 and Disabled American Veterans Post 123, all of Waynesburg.
