Eleanor Wood Bernhart, 76, of 760 Michigan Avenue, Washington, formerly of Waynesburg, died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 1997, in Humbert Lane Personal Care Home, Washington.

She was born April 7, 1921, in Brave, a daughter of Gail and Pauline O. Eddy Wood.

Mrs. Bernhart was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesburg and a former member of the Emerald Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Waynesburg.

With the exception of the past 11 years in Washington, she spent her entire life in Greene County.

For 38 years he owned and operated with her husband the Eleanor Style Shop in Waynesburg and the Thom McCann shoe store in Waynesburg, retiring in 1986.

On May 2, 1953, she married Paul R. Bernhart, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Dick Bernhart of Morgantown, W. Va., Tim Bernhart of Washington, and Nelson Phillips of Carlsbad, Calif.; two sisters, Louise Maize of Dover, Del., and Agnes Moson of Hinckley, Ohio; one brother, Robert Gale "Scopy" Wood Sr. of Waynesburg; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are one sister, Bobbie (Dorothy) Love, and one brother, Maynard C. Wood.

BERNHART - Friends of Eleanor Wood Bernhart, of 760 Michigan Avenue, Washington, formerly of Waynesburg, who died Wednesday, September 3, 1997, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service Saturday, September 6, at the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg. The Rev. Dr. Richard Visser will officiate. Interment in Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville,
