INTRODUCTION: This is a transcript of the first Births Register found in the Greene County Courthouse at Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. This register contains birth records from 1893 to 1903. Births were not recorded by the county prior to 1893. In additon to the two births books, which cover the years from 1893 through 1915, the county also has a number of books of delayed birth certificates of individuals who were born before the county recorded births or whose births were not recorded at the time. This transcription was made from digital images taken in February of 2001 and is in page-number order. Every effort has been made to copy the records exactly as they appear in the books. A few records were quite difficult to read due to the legibility of the recorder's handwriting. Where doubt existed as to the information recorded in the book, it has been indicated with a question mark. A number of the records in the book were amended or completed at a later date, and where that appeared to be the case it has been noted. Copyright, 2001, James Fordyce.
